Pharmacy First

Prescription medicines for common conditions available from your local pharmacy

Medicines used to treat Urinary Tract Infections, toddler conjunctivitisimpetigo and mild dermatitis or eczema usually require a prescription from a doctor. However, under the new service, some groups of people can now be assessed and have medicines supplied directly by a pharmacist.

Who can pharmacists provide prescription medication to under the new scheme?

  • Urinary Tract Infection medication for women aged between 16-64 years old.
  • Impetigo medication for adults and children over 2 years old.
  • Conjunctivitis medication for adults and children over 31 days old.
  • Eczema and dermatitis medication for adults and children over 1 year old.

The new service could save you significant time, and give you access to the right treatment more quickly. If you think you may have one of these conditions, visit your pharmacist for an assessment.
